A Software to easily swich between two physical computer consoles
As part of one of my project, I have to work on two physical systems. So, I don’t have any option than connecting both of them at my desk maintain two keyboards and mouses. When ever I want to switch between computers, I have to swing my chair to reach other keyboard and mouse. This is really painful and I have to switch like this for more than 100 times a day. Initially I thought of of using a KVM. But I am afraid after looking at it’s cost. That too, I have multi monitors connected for one of my system, that means I have three monitors now. If I use a KVM, I can not make use of multi monitor.

That time, I dreamed about a application which easily takes your mouse control from monitor of one machine to monitor of other machine, when it reaches end of first one. My friends said, it is out of scope. I too felt that and days are rolling….and I have no option than to swing my chair every time.
But today I have seen something great which really helped me. I was reading Technet Magazine and in IT tool box section, they talked about Input Redirector. After reading it’s overview, I felt very happy and immediately tried on my machine. It worked like a champ and I am able to change my KB and mouse control to second machine with just a mouse move. Amazing right?. I read completely about this tool and they have some more exciting features like, clipboard transfer between computers, Simultaneously locking all computers, and has hotkey option for faster switching between computers …many more…

Let me know if you know any other tools which perform like this.
Back in the late 1990s, some large Internet association conducted a survey in order to bestow awards in categories like Best Web server and Best Web browser, and one of the categories was Best Web authoring tool.
We didn’t find out about this until the organization contacted the Windows team and said, “Hi, we would like to present Microsoft with the award for Best Web authoring tool. Please let us know who the author of Notepad is, so that we can invite them to the award ceremony.”
Yup, Notepad won the award for Best Web authoring tool.
The mail went out to the team. “Hey, does anybody remember who wrote Notepad?”
Even a decade ago, the original authorship of Notepad was lost to the mists of time. I think the person who ended up going was the original author of the multi-line edit control, since that’s where the guts of Notepad lie.

Windows 7 has very exiting features like Aero view and more rich GUIs. I will definitely enjoy these features if the laptop is connected to direct power but when I am in travel or away in a place where I don’t have power options, then I will give preference to battery backup.
Aerofoil is a tool developed to automatically off aero view and other UI power consuming settings when you are running on battery. It also enables you to choose/switch between power plans and configure your side bar too. It has quick hibernate button which takes your laptop to sleep.
Get a copy of this freeware and enjoy long hours of battery performance.

While reading TechNet Magazine of March 2009, I came across the this new utility from Microsoft. I have seen many screen capturing recording softwares, but this appeared something special to me for few below reasons…
a) First of all, it is a FREE utility from Microsoft.
b) Giving option for recording activities of a single application window and full screen
c) Captured file is not cumbersome. I recorded for half a minute and the size is 45KB.
It has a very simple interface to start and stop recording. But the captured output can be saved as WMV file only. You can download this tool from Microsoft Download Center

I have come across a nice tool which I felt very useful for home users who wants to exchange their data with each other without the intervention of third party.
The general practices for sharing files with internet friends are sending through e-mail or sharing through some websites. All public sites are not as safe as we think. You can take rapid share site for example. Many search engines are available to search and report rapid share content. Though sharing through mail is very secure, size becomes the limitation here. I know, gmail support upto an attachment size of 25MB.
To make internet users happy, a new free aware called “Gbridge” was introduced by Gbridge LLC. The most impressing thing I found with this is, it’s integration with Gtalk for authentication service. Yes, you read it right. One need to use their gtalk ID for logging into this tool. After login this tool displays all your gtalk contacts and you can perform the following with your gtalk friends.
– Easy desktop Sharing using VNC and RDP(remember, this is not possible in normal scenario because all home internet connections will run under NAT service.)
– Easy file sharing (file transfer will happen from your computer to your friend computer and no other person can see this data in between)
– Chat with friends like you do with Gtalk
– Explore the tool for many more options
I personally felt that, this tool is very useful because of…
o It’s tight integration with Gtalk
o Easy sharing with without a third party intervention.
o Easy remote desktop sharing.
You can read FAQ’s for more clarity and download the tool from here.
